The Miami River condominium projects just got shut down.
Activists have been active in challenging condo developments on the Miami River, and they’ve gone three for three on getting the the 3rd District Court of Appeal in Miami to overturn the projects they filed lawsuits for.
The District Court ruled that Miami shouldn’t have changed the zoning at the area formerly known as the Florida Yacht Basin (1583 Northwest 24th Avenue) to 689 residential units and 30,000 square feet of commercial space. It’s now going to be reserved for the marine industry. The Merco Group, based in Miami Beach, wanted to build the Brisas del Rio condominium project there but that project is now nixed and off the table.
The other projects overturned have been the residential projects Hurricane Cove (1,073 units) and the Coastal on the River (633 units).
